From 10:00 am until approximately 11:30 am on Saturday, September 22nd, the 150th Belchertown Fair Parade will be underway. The parade steps off from the corners of Route 202 & Route 181 in front of the Town offices, and proceeds north to the intersection of Route 202 and Route 9. During the hours prior to, during and after the parade, there are traffic obstacles which motorists will encounter. Due to the nature of parade line up; many antique vehicles, floats, animals and marchers including youngsters, we would ask that for the safety of all participants, you pay attention to the detour signs and avoid unnecessary travel along the parade route. Getting to the center of town and/or going through town should be planned for early morning. Starting at about 8:00 am, motorists can expect traffic delays and detours around town. To assist your navigation around the center of town during the parade and fair, we have provided a list of road closures and some alternative routes.

Due to the fact that children, animals and many vehicles will be lining up prior to the parade stepping off, traffic through certain roads will be limited. This is a precaution taken for the safety of all parade participants and watchers. Please plan to be in place early if you &/or your child are participating in the parade.

ROAD CLOSED to through traffic - 9:00 am Fuller Road ( parade participants line up )
ROAD CLOSED to through traffic - 9:00 am Route 181 - Mill Valley Road closed just before Fuller Road. No traffic up to South Main Street (Cold Spring School) and Fuller Road. Last chance for turn around will be Jenson Road.
ROAD CLOSED to through traffic - 9:00 am North Washington Street - Last chance to turn around will be Jabish Brook Middle School.
ROAD CLOSED to through traffic - 9: 45 Jabish Street will be blocked from Johnson Road to center of town.
ROAD CLOSED to through traffic - 9:00 am Old Springfield Road will be closed from the back entrance of Jabish Brook Middle School up to South Main Street.
ROAD CLOSED to through traffic - 9:45 am Jackson Street will be closed until completion of Parade

Detours Around Town

From Route 181 (Three Rivers, Palmer) to Route 9 (Amherst, Hadley): Route 181, take right onto Jenson Road, stay straight onto Johnson Road, take right onto Jabish Street, take left onto Route 9 (Amherst/Hadley) or right onto Route 9 (Ware/Brookfield). * From approximately 10:30 - 12:30 there will be heavy traffic - Option two for would be follow Route 181 to center of Three Rivers, turn left onto Main Street, turn right onto Bridge Street towards Belchertown, take left onto Bardwell Street, take right onto Route 21, take left onto Route 202, right onto School Street, follow to end, right onto Bay Road, take left onto Route 9 .

From Route 181 (Three Rivers/Palmer) to Route 202 (Granby/Holyoke): Route 181 to center of Three Rivers, turn left onto Main Street, turn right onto Bridge Street towards Belchertown, take left onto Bardwell Street (before Arrow Gas), take right onto Route 21, take left onto Route 202. From Route 181 in Bondsville, take left onto Michael Sears, right onto Bardwell, cross over North Liberty, right onto Route 21, and then left onto Route 202.

From Route 181 (Three Rivers/Palmer) to Route 202 (Pehlam/Salem): Route 181, take right onto Jensen Road, stay straight onto Johnson Road, take right onto Jabish Street, take left onto Route 9 (Amherst/Hadley) and take right onto Route 202 North.

From Route 9 (Amherst/Hadley) to Route 202 (Granby/Holyoke): Take right onto Bay Road, take left onto Stebbin Street, take right onto East State Street (Route 202 South)

From Route 9 (Amherst/Hadley) to Route 181 (Three Rivers/ Palmer): Follow route 9, take right onto Jabish Street, take left onto Johnson Road, follow to end and take a left onto Route 181.

From Route 9 (Amherst/Hadley) to Route 21 (Ludlow/Sringfield): Take right onto Bay Road, take left onto Stebbin Street, take left onto East State Street (Route 202), take right onto Route 21

From Route 9 (Ware/Brookfield) to Route 21 (Ludlow/Springfield): Take left onto Jabish Street, take left onto Johnson Road, take left onto Route 181, take right onto Michael Sears, take right onto Bardwell, cross over North Liberty Street, continuing to follow Bardwell and take left onto Route 21 towards Ludlow.

From Route 9 (Ware/Brookfield) to Route 202 (Granby/Holyoke): Take left onto Jabish Street, take left onto Johnson Road, take left onto Route 181, take right onto Michael Sears, take right onto Bardwell, cross over North Liberty Street, continuing to follow Bardwell, take right onto Route 21 and left onto Route 202 South.

From Route 202 (Granby/Holyoke) to Route 181 (Three Rivers/Palmer): Take right onto Route 21, take left onto Bardwell Street, take right onto North Liberty Street, follow to Three Rivers, take left at light, take right onto Route 181 at next light.

From Route 202 (Pehlam/Salem) to Route 202 (Granby/Holyoke): Right onto Route 9 West, left at the light at Stop & Shop onto George Hanum Road, left onto Jackson Street, right onto Stebbin Street and right onto Route 202.

From Route 21 (Ludlow/Springfield) to Route 9 East (Ware/Brookfield) & Route 9 (Amherst/Hadley): Right onto Bardwell Street, cross over North Liberty Street, continuing on Bardwell Street, left onto Michael Sears, left onto Route 181, take right onto Jenson Road, stay straight onto Johnson Road, take right onto Jabish Street, take right onto Route 9 (Ware/Brookfield) or left onto Route 9 (Amherst/Hadley) and take right onto Route 202 North.
